Do you focus on goals, or do you feel you constantly run around day by day just to get by?
Goals are one of those things that either creates extreme drive in some of us or creates an extra weight on the shoulders of others.
Personally, I feel driven when I have a goal to reach for. I thrive on creative ideas and projects. Yet I have to admit, many times the goals I set get pushed further out then I originally planned. That's what happens with two little boys, a house, running my own small businesses and other things life throws.
Yet does not reaching my goal the first time make me feel I failed? No, it just makes me reset a new goal, or tweak things to better fit in ways I can better achieve them. Yet still, through it all, regardless of what life throws, I keep my goal in mind, several times a day, striving to achieve what I set out to do. Even if I have to adjust my time frame.
Setting goals are nothing to be stressed over or feared. They are one of the best forces that can keep us going. Goals can help us create a vision. They can help us find purpose and they can help push us to better ourselves. In many cases, striving to reach our goals will even, at times, make us far exceed them, furthermore, opening doors in ways we never even imagined.
Goals are an amazing thing that, no matter what our situation, we should all set for ourselves in some way or another. The good thing is, goals can be small...so small no one even has to know. (Although having an accountability partner might make you push that much farther.) Either way, they can improve your life, helping you direct it in the way you want to go.
Whether you have fitness goals, financial goals, business goals, creative goals, stopping bad habits or creating new ones goals, educational goals, they can all be achieved by taking that first step. In fact it’s all a matter of steps, and it is the first one that needs to be taken before the second, and the second before the third.
So if there are things you want to achieve yet struggle to, learn how you can start. No matter how challenging, take the smallest step imaginable if that's what it takes. Remember, small steps toward your goal are far more beneficial then not taking any steps at all. Small steps in the right direction may lead you to one day look back and be able to be thankful you started when you did.
There is not one successful person on this earth who got to where they are by hoping for it. There is not one house de-cluttered by just scrolling through the beautiful homes and rooms on Instagram, wishing your's was like that. We all know that, no one just wakes up one day and has the place, the space, the look, the money, the experiences, the dream they hoped to achieve. They all had goals and all took steps of action towards them. With enough effort (and usually many failed attempts along the way...and that's OK!!!), they achieved them.
Just remember...it is many, many small, small steps in the right direction that add up together that will put you on a journey down the right path.
