Looking out at our bare maple tree, I see a single, fragile, faded, yellowish leaf who somehow is making it through the storm. It’s mid March and the sky remains white in the mist of the end of winter. The large maple, full of life in the summer, lies dormant now. She long had lost her bright green leaves to the yellow of the fall, to eventually finding themselves on a pile upon the ground from the only place they called home. But here, mid March and one single yellow leaf still remains. One single yellow leaf hanging on with all it’s got by a long thin stem; strong enough to bare all weather. It held strong through the gusting winds of November, the fallen snow of December, and the freezing rain and falling temperatures of January. It hangs on strong above the place where all the other leaves fell… just as nature intended.
Is this how many of us are…following and falling at life’s toughest moments? What if we stood strong? What if we held on no matter what the world around us seemed to be doing? What if we held on and never let go even in life’s toughest moments? Just think, maybe we too would weather the storm.
In your darkest moments, your toughest times. Hang on. Don’t let go because time will pass and one day you will be looking back on that moment wondering how you ever made it through. You made it through because you hung on strong and didn’t let yourself fall regardless of anything.
