Happy January! We're 2 weeks in already. That's crazy. I really hope your year is off to a good, positive start.
In my last post I wrote about the importance of consistency and where it can get you by the end of the year. Especially if you commit to something every single day, even if you only have 10 min to dedicate to your goal.
Sometimes having a 'special word' to start the year with and continually focus on throughout the year can help bring you back to your goal. Because let's face it, no one is perfect. As daily life gets in the way, our 10 or 20 minutes we committed to set aside can get taken over by important phone calls, a baby who needs you right this second or a little scrapped knee that needs mommy's kisses. Or it can just be an off day for you that even if someone offered you a million bucks (OK that's stretching it, but you get it) you just can't find it in you to focus, not even for 10 min. It's just life and it's nothing to beat yourself up over.
Yet having a special word that you carry in your heart and mind throughout the year can greatly increase your chances of success. It's amazing, but really, one simple word can be a great way to gently bring you back when you feel you break away from your goal or plan.
Some might have to think long and hard for their word, while others will have a word quickly fall into their mind effortlessly. And some words...some words will just find you.
My word found me for this year.
Deeper.
It just came to me out of nowhere. Yet it couldn't be more true.
I want a deeper connection to everything. A deeper connection to my family and friends. A deeper connection to my artwork and writing. A deeper connection to nature and maybe most importantly, a deeper connection to who I am still becoming.
I will think of this word daily, seeing where it will bring me by the end. When I fall away from my goals, I will try to remember to think of my word, my intention and then just bring myself back. To start again.
It is never too late to start again. No matter how far you fall away.
So try to take sometime to let this idea come into your head. See if it could work for you. If you can't think of a word, just think of the idea of thinking of a word...then let it be. It's amazing how our subconscious mind works, continually, yet silently, bringing us new ideas out of no where. Sometimes when we need them the most. Suddenly there it will hit you.
And then take your word, carve out your 10 minutes or more a day and see what can become of your goals, ideas, or plans by the end of the year.
All the best. 😉
